This happened a week ago but this is the first I've heard about it.

It was very widely reported when it happened. We must be on different news channels ? It was a Gyro

I was grinning when I read this, then my face fell when I saw it was a fatal aircraft v powerline :(

Very sad, and a reminder of just how nasty these things can be. While it's not unknown to survive such events there are many examples where the result has been deathly for the occupants. Apart from the obvious answers I wonder if there's any additional tech that might be employed to reduce the likelihood of such contact, or make the line more 'visible' in some way? It seems to me an area that could do with some concerted research.

That was not what I saw - they showed a Cessna in pieces. And no, there is nothing wrong with my eyes.

I believe the pilot of the Gyro was from my area.

Don't take it personal, it was not meant that way. I was just saying that I saw it reported in a couple of different locations a week earlier. Nothing more than a passing comment to say that the information was out there, it wasn't hidden somewhere and there was no comment about something wrong with your eyes ??

Sorry, I'm just a bit tetchy these days as I try to get my life together now my husband's gone. Some days I'm okay - some days I'm not.
