Hey folks,

question 1: could an engine #1 severe damage after takeoff cause a complete loss of hyd system A?

question 2: how about an engine #1 separation? Could it cause a loss of system A and Standby hyd system all together? I don’t believe it’s possible, but reading FCOM it states that a leak on the electric motor driven pump or it’s lines or components common to the engine driven pump, would cause the loss of the system. If you consider the reverse thrust as a common component…
Still, as your standby system automatic operation occurs after takeoff due to engine loss, and once it is also connected to the separated reverse thrust, could you loose it too?

again, I don’t believe it works that way, but couldn’t find the answer at the FCOM.

best regards

1. Unlikely, as there is a standpipe in the system A reservoir, that ensures 20% of fluid is available to the EMDP.
2. Also unlikely, as there are hydraulic fuses fitted to the engine thrust reverser supply lines, which close if a leak occurs, to prevent a total loss of the related system. Ithink if your engine has separated, you have bigger problems than loss of system A... :)
