Regarding contaminated cabin air “wet sock” smell due to oil leak

Do any of you have experience with socalled oil “sniffers”, that can be used by maintenance when throubleshooting ?

This is for Airbus

There was a requirement with GE90s a few years back to have a sniff test with a hand held device during engine oil servicing. Not sure if that device could be purposed for a cabin air check. Never had to use a device in the past for a cabin air check, just relied on a human sniff test and isolating each engine and APU bleed in turn to see if smell cleared. (A346 with RR T500)

I believe Pall who manufacture a lot of cabin air filters are developing an oil "sniffer" system. Portable and hard wired systems. Can detect and differentiate between oil, hydraulic etc

We definitely used to use a 'sniffer' to detect fuel in oil when servicing the engines. I can't remember which type. It was a bit hit and miss.
