Is there anyone out there with knowledge of how Loganair operated its scheduled services between Glasgow and Skye (1972-88)? Was there an NDB at Broadford in those days, or was the whole operation VFR?
There's still talk of reinstating commercial air services to Broadford but an NDB wouldn't hack it these days and the withdrawal of EGNOS in the UK makes any sort of PBN design at Broadford virtually impossible due to the surrounding terrain. It would be interesting to know how it was done in the 'Good Old Days'!

Although more proposal than historical, this document mentions cost of visual approach and instrument approach requirements and costings if the airport was to be redeveloped, perhaps suggesting it was originally sparse! Not quite sure why it wouldn't draw in some pax nowadays even if summer only and not ‘lifeline subsidised’
