Looking at Flight Radar 24 I noticed a Russian Il96 heading across the Atlantic.
it came up as Russian Special Flight Squadron VKO- JFK.
I presume it is not commercial and with current sanctions on Russia am I right in thinking it must be related to United Nations?
any thoughts o wise ones.

Unless it's some 'special' flight, as you surmise a UN diplomat related flight, or even just a run of the mill resupply for the embassy and/or consulate.

Big aircraft; how many 'diplomats' could be carried on that I wonder.
I remember the tale of when one arrived at the Farnborough Air Show; when it departed it took out far fewer personnel than had arrived in it; where did they all go I wonder?
