I thought it was a good program.

Similarly, MOD produced a good video around the groups doing armoured training, which is available on youtube.

I agree, I found the programme and the presenter very good, I remember seeing the photo with the Ukraine U.K. flag on the liberator and thought he must be one we trained. Didn’t we provide full kit to those we trained early on?, I am surprised that has changed, mind you kitting out 20,000 a year is a lot.

My disappointment with it was Why BBC Three and not One or Two.
It should have been shown to a wider audience.

It's repeated tonight on BBC One at 22:40 BST.

Short answer. Stacey Dooley. She seems to be the darling of the younger generation. Personally I cannot stand her accent, really grinds my gears. Nothing against her as a presenter, she seems to be doing a good job...but that accent. 😒

I found her to be both sympathetic and caring in the programme to the future plight of these men as they went about their business of learning to be Soldiers, especially as she was heavily pregnant at the time.
Yes I read a few negative comments to her narrating it, but I found in practice she appeared to bond with these young men and those involved in training and translating, she did a fine job in my opinion.

A difficult subject treated with great sensitivity. The trainees, interpreters and instructors clearly formed a bond and were committed to do the best they could in the time available. I desperately hope the soldiers featured in the programme survive to celebrate ridding their country of the barbarian invaders. I truly believe that the Ukrainians are fighting battles that if they lose will soon become our battles, and it is only right that we provide all the help we can.

Interestingly Ukrainian troops at home being taught the same trench clearing skills they were learning in the UK. It does make you wonder if some of those that have been trained here earlier went back as instructors

As I'm sure we all understand, there'll be a requirement for continuous training and development - and recent social media reflects that, from what I've seen. There's a lot of training and prep going on. For example, one recent video showed a unit using airsoft rifles for training in built-up areas. I would imagine there may have been a more experienced course go through UK or other nation training packages to pick up the procedures being taught so that they can continue back in Ukraine.

I wouldn't be offended if the thread starter copied this and put it at the top of the thread.:)

This'll be heading off to JB - She's one gutsy woman, it was this YT video that got me tracking her (10+ yrs ago).

excellent programme IMH0. Very powerful.

However, she is clearly a ‘wasp’ and cannot hope to survive in the current meejah environment.
