Whisper here at EGHH is that the "White One" needs a L/gear change and will be freighting again late next month possibly to HKG??

AFX Cargo STILL exists as a freight company, but the airline bankrupt and AOC suspended for a long time now.
The jumbo at LHR unable to move due to lack of MX records and airwirthiness cert cannot, repeat cannot be granted.
Your right, they acquired the former Dunlop Aviation Tyres workshop at Hatton Cross about 18 months ago.
Have you seen the Hiloader and engine stand outside rotting in the elements??

Have passed through Hatton Cross a few times in the last three months.... nothing happening at AFX office..... until last week.

The doors were all open and people were knocking about. There was at least one AFX logo'd Transit inside, and a few people looking at that.

Don't have any info on it, but at least there has been some signs of life.

Question is, I know alot of guys who would be sceptical about flying for these guys again, even though work is work.

Will watch this space with interest.

Apparently they are calling back 4 laid off crews for retraining, with sim. already booked plus talk of a London to Hong Kong operation. Sounds pretty serious to me.

Around 1730hrs on Monday this week I observed a white B747-200F landing at LHR on 09L.
I was not close enough to see reg but this is possible it could have been the AFX aircraft completing a trial flight ???
Could anyone quantify/clarify this.
No sked arrivals or departures for B742F on Mondays at LHR.

Any help on clarification or if you saw this aircraft please post...

No it wasn't an AFX a/c......:D

The AFX jumbo which has been parked for months has moved away, presumed at another airport now. There is a UAE B747SP sitting in its place.
This might just confirm the sighting of a white B742F on finals to 09L earlier this week.

Any other news on this welcome.:)

The AFX B747 went to EGFF for MX with BA. Private flight apparently.

4 crews are halfway through refresher. Sim is organised. GGINTL is being maintained. First trips are planned - out to HKG.

You won't find a better bunch of flight crew and maintainers. Who said life was always easy? Good luck AFX.[COLOR=green] :) :) :)

Have they got new finance then ?? I had heard they were still waiting - 6 months now or something.

BRISTOLRE

Contrary to my report of last week, the G-INTL has returned to LHR and is parked back in a similar location between BMI/VS hangars..

Whats going on??

Contrary to various reports the AOC was never suspended.
GINTL never took off - but will do soon.

Anyone got any further news about AFX being re-launched. I'm sure if they do, they'll need some good staff, unlike the previous bunch (allegedly) :D

AFX number is +44 208 607 5100 fax +44 208 759 6960
email [email protected]

First flight is planned for 02 October 2002. AFX is looking for Flight ops duty officers / first officers / Avionics engineers / station engineer for BAH and HKG / A planning engineer.

All of these would join the existing team who have stayed on to see the company re-launch. 4 complete crews have just finished re-training and another 4 (all from those who were with AFX before) will be re-called soon

This time AFX will be focussed on scheduled services but look out for some surprises in the next few months (all 747).

Wait and see what is going to be painted on the side of G-INTL soon!!

The aircraft is still at LHR, but I've heard it may be off somewhere this week. Another rumour has it that they are looking for crews, but they must be 747 ( Classic ) rated. I hope this is true, as things at EAAC look a bit unstable. Any news posted here would help.
Cheers, Y

Yotter, No rumours regarding AFX going the rounds here at EGHH. Somebody here thinks some old AFX crews have done sim revalidation at LGW. Last whisper was a couple of weeks ago that it was off to Wales for BA to do a Gear Change and then UK- HKG twice a week via the gulf with a possible tech stop in far east (BKK?), if this is all true then things look fairly promising however the A/C was still at LHR on Thursday (I think) this week.

Heard MK want to buy an AFX 747....wouldn't be the Boeing one they leased? G-GAFX?
Apparently MK want 7 x 747Fs by the middle of next year.

This was last heard of at Manston - a nose loading B747 freighter, which Airfreight Express operated from 1999 to early this year. I heard Boeing had taken it back, but has it left Manston yet?
I also heard there was a CAA inspection prior to their AOC being reinstated and there seems to be a lot of activity at their base opposite Hatton Cross - anyone know what's going on, if they are recruiting and what are the routes?
Cheers, Y

The buzz here at EGHH is that AFX will be operating from AMS to KL via the Gulf very soon now. The white one needs a new set of wheels but that might be put off for a bit. Some recruiting is going on apparently - Classic current only. Good luck to them if it finally gets off the ground!

The a/c is well and truly at LHR and there are parking fees running into six figures, which may well put a damper on plans.

In addition to my last the a/c at LHR alongside the BMI hangar has been worked on during the last few days with flaps fully extended on one day.

The problem is that PB is back in charge and with his own individual interventionist approach to airline/aircraft management/maintenance,I don't give it too long, just look at his 'previous'!Also his aircraft are such one-offs,particularly in the engine department, plus the general underfunding (rumour has it he has 300K to throw away this time)..sorry,but I give it a couple of months... INTL did need an u/c overhaul, but I hear PB has an extension on that.I thought the plane was going to Hahn for maintenance..but probably BA at EGFF makes more sense..no outstanding bills.
I'd heard that *** ******** was the new CP,I wonder if PB has taken back all his dolly birds in various positions of clueless power at LGW and MAN? ...I'd stay at EAAC!

Another 747 freighter ( AFX 7000) arrived at LHR today around lunchtime - obviously an ex Korean -200 to join the one by the British Midland hanger. I gather one will be going to KUL and the other to HKG, via DXB operated by their own crews. Looks like Philip Bowles means business at last!
