Tail Spin 1939 Constance Bennett, Alice Faye, Nancy Kelly, Jane Wyman, Joan Davis - YouTube

At 46:10.

Then you can watch the whole old time movie if you like.

It's YouTube so I can't watch any of it.
For some reason, Pprune blocks YouTube postings to me and to hundreds (possibly thousands) of Pprune watchers.

You may find that if you hit Reply to the post with the URL, you can copy it.

Failing that, the film is easily found via YouTube's search facility.

For that you need to know the name of the video, it is 'Tail Spin 1939 Constance Bennett, Alice Faye, Nancy Kelly, Jane Wyman, Joan Davis'.

And no, I don't think I could get into a cockpit that way.

At one time I thought of buying a share in a Pietenpol air camper. I then saw a video of someone getting into one. Half my age, and two thirds my weight, and it still looked like a limbo contest.I drpped the idea

Aaaah, Bernard Pietenpol's ultimate minimalist genius :D Having limited skill, I made an R/C version 'cos of the simplicity. Modelling the Model T engine was the most difficult part. Flew like a dream and became a 'toffee bomber' for demos. Intended to make a 1/4 scale (natural 1/4" timber frames) version but ... life interfered.:(

I shall have to study her technique! ;)

I have an opportunity to fly a Camel replica in the Spring. Assuming I pass the checkout flights in either a Christen Eagle II or a Chipmunk, there are just two other issues - I need to lose a bit of weight and I need to be able to swing my leg above my waist, in order to get into the cockpit! I have five months to solve those problems.

Watch The Blue Max and study how George Peppard et al kick their leg up and over the cockpit side when mounting up! Can't say I've ever noticed that technique at Shuttleworth but bay have missed it...

John Noakes visited the FAAM with Blue Peter when Culley's Camel was in residence.
Noakes was intrigued by Haraka Senior's explanation of getting in by straddling the rear fuselage, hand walking up the top decking ,then swinging one's legs in to the cockpit and then plopping down in to the seat.
Noakes decided to give it a go with the cameras running..
All went well UNTIL.he encountered the hook behind the cockpit which was used to help suspend the Camel from the ceiling in the IWM.
and which proceeded to rip the backside out of his trousers......

Do you have an ad blocker installed? If so try pausing it and refreshing the page, that did the trick for me at least

I have no adblocker installed (AFAIK), and in all other websites, I can see u-tube video's, including their ads. It is only PPRuNe, where video's don't show. Photographs, however, com through nicely.

PPrune doesn't actively block youtube videos.
I have scripts disabled, using Pale Moon with an ad blocker, and can see the link to click on if I wished to.
However, on the V Bomber Emergency Escape Trials I can't see the links.
