Good news - the Perth airport CEO has finally been pushed. The bloke whose only strategy for making a profit was bumping up aircraft user fees and car parking fees has finally fallen on his sword. He has nobody’s respect. He was given the shove from Cairns airport prior to unleashing on Perth, and now Perth airport have had enough. The Board chair wanted him out in 2019 but he survived, just. And who could forget him blocking Virgin aircraft when they went into liquidation. Spiteful man. Seems no Australian airport wants him so instead poor old St John Ambulance is hiring the clown. Watch him sell off assets, raise first aid kit prices and raise first aid course prices - all the low hanging fruit. Watch out St John Ambulance management, this new CEO surrounds himself with women managers as he is afraid of male competition. Anyway, this is great news for our industry.

Be good if the incoming person could do something with that Borghetti Jet. You could crush it, pull it apart, whatever, in a weekend, sick of seeing the thing. You could fund the demolition from selling the seats and what not to enthusiasts.

Ha ha nice one. No. However I did have an aviation related business that was impacted by this CEO when he pushed GA businesses out of his airport.

Ive personally met him twice and he’s always been an extremely engaging and cordial person who genuinely make an effort to engage with a broad range of stakeholders.

He started in 2016 so leaving in 2022 makes it a 6 year innings. That’s not unusual in the corporate world to then want to move onwards and upwards to the next challenge. I worry more about the ones who are old, stale and uninspiring and stick around well past their used by date with no fresh ideas, experience or perspective.

Well, rather than being pushed it seems that he has chosen to go for another CEO job. He has been pretty prominent around Perth, and arguably has lifted the profile of the airport as a corporate citizen. The employees there appear to be happy and most are long-termers, so he must have done something right. He seems to be a damn sight more competent than the bloke he replaced.

Probably the biggest blight on Brown's record is the whole mess-up with Qantas. I personally put most of the blame on the airline, but really Covid should have led to a reset and starting afresh once the borders opened. At some point you've got to smoke the peace pipe with your biggest customer, even if they are jerks.

Taking up the top post at St John Ambulance is a poisoned chalice. The State Government has been looking for reasons to bring ambulances into Government, but the enquiry conceded that it would take too long and the current contract should be allowed to run out. I understand the staff have been stretched, morale is low and the current ills of the WA health system are having an impact on response times. But KB is tight with the current government and has the gift of the gab, so perhaps he is going to smooth things over.
