High wing v low wing

Just wondering what the pros and cons, or likes/dislikes, are for GA pilots, with respect to high wing (eg Cessna 172) or low wing (eg PA-28) aircraft?
I guess having a good view, up or down, might be a factor?

I’m told that a low wing plane tends to “float” more on landing than a high wing plane, but I learned to fly in a Piper Tomahawk (low wing) so didn’t have anything to compare it to at the time.

In terms of visibility, I have no preference.

I can only say I learnt to fly on low wing and high wing landings are either incredible or awful! No inbetween! Mind you all my high wing experience has been cessna so??

I did around five hours on the Cessna 152 before switching to PA38/28. As far as I recall the view down in the Cessna was good, although the high wing made it difficult to scan above the aircraft.
As my Cessna time was very early on in training, I hadn't even started trying to land so cannot comment on that.
Low wing Pipers do make it easy to check the fuel tanks, something that as an old git I really appreciate...
