A 737 freight aircraft had a failed landing in bad weather overnight.

The nose of the aircraft remains submerged in a lake adjoining the runway.

I am not allowed to post URLs, but the Montpellier airport website has the details.

Would appear that they've now bent half their fleet

Whose bent half of which fleet?

Swift Air, not WA. One of the aircraft they transferred to swift, just hasn’t been repainted.

"The resumption of air traffic at Montpellier airport, closed since Saturday morning after the runway excursion of a cargo plane, could take place "at the start of the week" if the operations to free the damaged plane succeed, announced this Sunday the prefect of Hérault. “I cannot yet give you a precise timetable, we hope in any case that at the beginning of next week the flights can resume”, indicated the representative of the State, Hugues Moutouh, during a press point on the airport tarmac. Since Saturday, flights departing or due to arrive at this airport, located on the Mediterranean coast and which sees up to 197,000 passengers transit per month in the summer season, have been either canceled or diverted."

As the previous Poster has pointed out, operated by a "West Mediterranean" airline with their "West Mediterranean" crews, who 'swiftly' went off the end of a long runway.

In a storm

Why did they chose to land "In a storm"?

Surely they should have held until conditions improved, or diverted?

Or, with the winds quoted above by Leo45, why not land the other direction that appeared to be more into wind???

There is no reason for that aeroplane (if fully serviceable!) to run off the end of a runway at MPL.

Not as 'swiftly' as they did.
