Hoping to find an answer from someone in the know. Been reading the 2 EBAs and I'm not sure about one thing.

On both 2019 Pilot's EBA, starting pay for 2022 FOs are the same at $63,796. They both also have the same Duty Hour Allowances of $6.76.

However, on the Eastern EBA, there is also a "Sector" allowance of $126 and I assume this applies for every sector flown ie. per takeoff/landing. The Sunstate EBA does not have this allowance.

Drawing a conclusion that those on the Eastern EBA would be better off?

TIA

The sector allowance refers to an allowance paid when working outside of re-assignable reserve periods & certain duty extensions. It is not a regular allowance

Your conclusions only exist until the next EBA, where no doubt management will play the two off each other and enact the undercutting game. Why exactly do two seperate groups still even exist, given they are doing the same flying, same company, same aircraft, same rules, regs, limits and same Mr Whippy hats?

Thanks, that makes sense now :ok:

Sunstate pilots get a flat rate for an extension or day off. In Eastern it varies depending on the length of the duty. Eastern pilots will earn more allowance the longer the day off etc.

RE: the company playing off pilots groups - the two councils need to get over historical differences for a chance of this ending.

Just get on the seniority list for your preferred base ASAP. Transferring between the two lists isn’t necessarily a quick process and you’ll go back to the bottom once you do.

If you’re planning on moving on (like most newbies are these days) then it doesn’t really matter.

BNE and ADL base probably do the highest percentage of day shifts. MEL does mostly overnights. SYD and CNS do a mix. Quickest command upgrades at the moment are ADL and SYD.

All subject to change as usual..

Further to this - get on the seniority list for your preferred company (Eastern or Sunstate) as it can be difficult to move as mentioned. Movement to preferred base after that will be relatively quick within your group.

The “historical differences” issues are north of the Tweed and always have been, that aside, the Company has the wherewithal to create a single list not the councils.

Can’t blame them with the lacklustre pay rates..

And short haul will get the next lot of A321 if they agree to the pay freeze.

Criminal behaviour but we all keep falling for it. Not that I can any option to beat them

There's that carrot again. How long have we had that single aisle jet pay in our EBA now?

Sitting inside a shiny new jet = great pilot. = great honour. = pax and CC line up to throw rose petals at your feet as you strut down the airbridge to mount your stallion.

It’s this vivid imagination of too many pilots’s mentalities and misplaced feelings of self worth which is cheerfully being exploited by management. That’s why they have MBAs and we struggle to do an easy crossword.

If I had a dollar for every time that I heard a pilot on a “superior” type sneer at his colleagues operating smaller, older and thus “lesser” equipment I’d have retired 20 years earlier. The worst part is that this mindset is self perpetuating. The way the award is structured also encourages this mindset.

We are our own worst enemy.

Thanks for that info. I'm not even a newbie yet, still trying to get through the door! My 300 hours multi command hasn't been of interest to anyone so far though :ugh:

Both parties better pull thier collective fingers out of their arses or they will find themselves behind the pay and conditions of Rex SAAB pilots very soon.

What's the base pay going to look like for a Saab driver with the new EBA?
