"the" Gannet? Which one?

Presumably Wisconsin-based T.5 XT752. AFAIK it's the only Gannet that has flown within the last decade.

There's certainly no prospect of seeing any of the pictured AEW.3s ever flying again.

I don't know the history but probably, yes. There was one just recently (last 10 years) in the UK that kept trying to get airworthy then it all went silent.
Has it been sold stateside and do you know why it isn't flown?

Tim Manna's Kennet Aviation had XL500 under restoration - it's now with another owner and displayed at the South Wales Aviation Museum, not sure if flight is still a goal.

I seem to recall that nobody could be found to overhaul the propellers. I can't remember whether it was lack of special tooling or capability.

I can't post any links ( I have 12 posts so not sure why...)

It looks like Navy Wings is getting the US Gannet...
They are appealing on Facebook for experienced engineers to help get it back in the air in the US, then back to the UK...

Napier engined Typhoon should be flying at Sywell soon if it hasn't already flown and there's also a Tempest being restored in Canada..

Hi VM
Posts in Jetblast do not count towards your total post count - your post count is only showing 6 atm and there is sometimes a 'lag' with post moderation etc until you 'officially' have 10 to your credit.

Joke…..What? No credit for “damaged” and “Probable”? …I guess Jetblast is the PP equivalent of a Bombing and Gunnery Range, doesn’t count as actual Ops. …. .Joke over.

Ah an Albatross; that reminds me of another 'Whatever happened to'. I understand there's a Grumman Albatross at Southampton undergoing maintenance.
It's mentioned in www.blackbusheairport.proboards.com/thread/3/photo-day?page=302&scrollTo=18843 dated Aug 7 but no other details eg location are known.

IN98TP doesn't appear to have left Southampton since it arrived on Saturday evening.

chevvron , for some reason I'm getting a security alert on that Blackbushe link... if it's the one with all the historic pics, shame as it's well worth a gandet.

Sometimes happens with Blackbushe proboards.
Easiest way to clear it is to sign on to the forum; it's free.(plus you get to see a whole huge library of photos both ancent and modern; it's titled 'Picture of the Day' )
Whilst on the subject, you may wish to look at www.airfieldresearchgroup.org.uk/forum too.
