Like many other wannabes, i myself too was very glad to see that Britannia will be running a sponsorship scheme for trainee pilots. However, this has roused various thoughts in my head mainly being:
Surely it would be much cheaper and cost effective for airlines to hire experienced pilots rather than put students through training at very high costs with delayed benefits, and;
If airlines are willing to train people, does that mean that there is or there is an anticipated lack of new/low hour pilots?
Maybe there are hidden benefits for airlines who train individuals from scratch that are not so obvious??!
Anyone care to enlighten me?
