Accident Piper PA-46-350P Malibu Mirage JetPROP DLX N97CX, 17 Jul 2022 (aviation-safety.net) (https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/280467)

"Preliminary information indicates the Malibu was instructed to land on runway 30L but approached 30R, the Skyhawk was on approach to 30R and a collision occurred."

KVGT's parallel runways have staggered thresholds that can be hard to see. One has to pay close attention.
RIP. Not much else to say.

Such tragic and sometimes avoidable events touch me a great deal. So much so that I once spent a deal of time trying to provide useful feedback to an official investigation into mid-air events here.

I have no comment on this other than that I wanted to know more about how two 'planes could be approaching the same runway in what I assumed was a controlled environment, and whether there was anything I could learn for the future.

At this point I've come away from my research partly because there seems to be two possibly conflicting purported audio recordings of ATC/pilot comms. There is this and then this (https://www.fox5vegas.com/video/2022/07/19/breakdown-moments-leading-deadly-north-las-vegas-plane-crash/). Obviously neither are authoritative sources, and I suspect there may be missing sections, however I can't help but think of something I read in Arthur Hailey's 'Airport' many years ago; the essence of which was that if ATC say anything like 'turn left/right immediately', do so without prevarication!

To avoid doubt - I reiterate that I am, absolutely, not casting any view on the terrible event itself, and if anyone reading this knows people involved then please know that even thousands of miles away someone really cares.

Footnote: I didn't realise posting the 'tube link would put up a picture of the video, which somehow seems a little crass to me. If there's any way to do so without it please let me know, or fix it if you can, thanks.
