Where in East Anglia would be the best spot on Tuesday 24th May to watch the rehearsal flypast ?

My sister's house apparently, which looks to be just about smack underneath a few miles SW of Diss. She would like to know what time to set up her sun lounger!

For the main event, I thought I might head up to Putney and watch from the riverside, which is about 4nm WSW of Buck House - I assume the main formations will continue on course for several miles before turning towards their dispersal areas. Then I'll go and enjoy a pint in the Bricklayers.

"The rehearsals will start in the vicinity of The Wash, The North Sea and overfly RAF Cranwell, Lincolnshire. The dispersal will occur over North Lincolnshire and parts of Yorkshire."

Non of the earlier posts actually offer the answer regarding where is the “ Buckingham Palace” location for the rehearsal.
Does anybody know the answer??

thanks

My understanding is it's Cranwell (hence the upper boundary of Area D being only 3000').

It's Cranwell.

You asked the best place - and gave you the route and heights !

Do you want us to go and watch it for you?

I'm afraid that I can't tomorrow - I have an important appointment with several pints from 1230... (though I've promised to keep my sister updated as to the formations' movements courtesy ADSB, so she can optimise her sun lounger's position at the appropriate moment)

To answer the actual question asked, Southwold is pretty good for these kinds of things usually.

Though Marham will probably be a better bet for tomorrow's rehearsal as the formation will be lower by that point (assuming Cranwell is too far to travel to).

Altsel,
you don't own a hand-held SAM do you?

The rehearsals routing loos though it may have been changed and will no longer encompass most of Norfolk and Suffolk... can anyone confirm this is is now the current briefing sheet?

Yes, the Briefing Sheet, showing only Areas A-C, replaces the AIC which previously had Areas A-E (though it's actually the original Areas B and C which have been removed).

Hope that makes sense, let's hope the OP hasn't already set out for Southwold ...

Cheers Dave, briefed my sister for a probable disappointment earlier, so her sunlounger will remain in the shed - she and B-I-L are planning a bird watching expedition to Dunwich on Thursday next week instead!

(Her previous hubby who sadly died anout 15 years ago was a Tornado techie at Marham, she has maintained a keen interest in loud pointy things!)

Interesting.

My wife and I came away for a couple of days by the sea and, by coincidence, we're currently here.

Currently up and mooching just off the Norfolk coast

Organised chaos...I'm sure they'll sort it out

After the last big bash an awful lot of the flypast could be seen heading west down Guildford High Street

Hopefully we'll get a report from the OP re what they saw.

Nice run + break by the three Hercs at Brize after the rehearsal yesterday, although one was a bit tardy in the impromptu vic on the run in.

Looked North from the supper table last night to see a pair of Spits (?) (rheumy eyes and evening light !), coasting in, low level, near Cromer. Presumably part of the gathering ?
