Is a Hughes/Schweizer 300C a good choice/option to multi-task and operate in the mountains?
My voucher is not much, I can't access a turbine helicopter, will be my first own Helicopter and in world piston options the only one I see that is "utility" is the S300C! but my goal is to purchase an utility helicopter to do various jobs. The work area is in the mountains, with heights ranging from 2600 feet to max 7000 feet sea level alt.
This is the situation. The only one that I also like is the Bell 47 but it is an old machine and with response problems.
I look forward to your comments, advice and experiences.

HP - Sometimes "Old" is better as any op is Horses for Courses.
A good B47G 3B1 will work reliably and well for you at 7 K DA whereas you will be working a lot harder with the 300C. Just remember to idle for 5 mins before shutdown to get the heat out of the Turbo.
The 47 has never let me down over 50 years ops in high DA conditions.
If you aren't experienced in high DA and mountain ops - get some training and get to know mother nature - especially the wind.

Thank you tcamiga!, It is true what you say about the bell 47 turbo. It is a very good machine, the problem is really become hardly to fiend it . The ones I have seen in the USA for sale, although they are G3b1 or G3b2, many have had their turbo removed. I know very well that it is the ideal machine for the mountains, but we have to see if I can find one in good condition and with the turbo! husghes 269 or S300 are plenty of them in the market for sale. Thank you so much for your advice. Greetings from Patagonia!

'Response problems' 47s have been and still are used for mustering and ag work. They do not have response problems.

You might consider a Hiller 12E....they are an old workhorse.

Thanks ascj and SASless,
Bell 47 have problem with the spare parts and for the support. In south america there not on the air anyone. So I think will be a problem to work with them. There are a few of h269 and s300 in south america, but schweizer factory still produce it and have the support with spare parts.
Anyway, I know very well that the best option will be B47 or UH12E !. Regards
