Sad news to hear of a fellow aviator heading to the bar in the sky but a little clarity is required please.
Tony Bond from the C-130 and and C-17 world is alive and kicking as I have just seen him.
😳

Tony Bond, if my memory stands, was the first 1st Tour pilot on 2(AC) Sqn Phantom recce at Laarbruch, sometime around 1974-ish. I think he was an ex-apprentice, and he was dropped into a sqn of mostly old recce hands, but certainly proved to be, from a PI point of view, an excellent recce pilot. He was crewed with Bill Pike, who had many years on recce, and the pairing, from a RIC point of view, came up with the goods. A good egg!

Sad to hear, so young as well. Was only talking to him at the start of the year

I knew Tony when he was on 2 Squadron F4s at Laarbruch in the mid-70s, and later on IX(B) Squadron Tornados at Honington 1982-85. He was an excellent, professional and enthusiastic pilot, and an endearing and lively character at work and play. We last met by chance some years ago at Ferrybridge services on his way to Newcastle to pick up a Britannia 757. Sad to see him go.

Back in the early 80s as a child I used to collect aircrew autographs - I still have the book and picked up some very interesting ones over the years.

Anyway, at St Mawgan in 1980/81 ish I collected the signature of a 'Tony Bond' flying a RF-4E (35+22) of the German AF - could this be the same person? Given his recce background, I suspect so. RIP

On the same page is the autograph of Tim Watts flying XX264 of the Reds.
