:)

Plans for a new combined domestic and international airport in Adelaide have been given the go-ahead this week with Virgin Blue agreeing to come on board.

Virgin was the last to agree to the deal after Qantas confirmed several weeks ago it would join in plans for the new complex.

Qantas had initially planned to create its own terminal.

It is believed funds for the new terminal will be raised by the imposition of a passenger tax of up to $9 on a return ticket.

AAP reported work was due to begin before the end of this year.

I assume what you mean is new terminals at the present West Beach airport not a new airport. Couldn't imagine where you'd put a new airport in Adelaide!!!!

Now comes the part whereby the costs are raised per passenger as the costs of construction soar, Brett Godfrey screams blue murder and threatens to boycott the airport and use the freight shed or existing premises!

Only a matter of time before VB comes to the party in Sydney as extending the existing shed in SYD is impracticle and they know they really need a dedicated terminal.

Yes Captain, you are quite right. The extract does not refer to entire new airport, but rather a new multi-user terminal to be built between the existing international and domestic terminals.

I apologise if the title of the post was misleading.

Capt Gerry....no need to imagine where Adelaides next airport is going to be located. About 20 or so years ago it was announced that the next airport was to be located at Two Wells. As to when it will be built...who knows!:)
