Doing the rounds on social media, the 17th of March marked ninety years since the first commercial flight to Flinders Island.

I suppose young Noel Boland did the turnaround for the first flight at Flinders Island.

.
Thats interesting - 1932 - the same year the Sydney Harbour Bridge opened.

Noel was a bit of a fixture, part of the furniture so to speak. Is he still with us?

Anyone here with first hand accounts of Reg Munro?

Aviation has been very good for Flinders Island.

Noel Bowland is alive and well on Flinders Island.

Another former Heron F/O who refers to Noel as "Rocky", sent this article to me-www.tasmaniantuxedo.com.au #97 The man with the half century wingspan

Many a hangar rat got their start with FIA, loading the Ansons and later the B-18s with groceries outbound and 120 lb hessian sacks of live crayfish back to YMMB.

Fun days. Never had two cents to rub together but ironically still happy.
