They probably realised they aren't up to the task. Shame Britain can't see that as well. Scrapping capability before the "New Stuff" is up to the job is madness.

They were ordered when progress with the A400M regarding special operations, para drops and refueling was considered too slow. With the progress the A400M has made since they probably wouldn't have been ordered any more from today's perspective but hey, now they are there, why not use them?!
