A tad more rainfall than normal up north as you would likely be aware.

1 ft of water through the hangars at Redcliffe. New wheel bearings all round shortly!

Redcliffe waterlogged. Murwillumbah . How goes that as well?

Glad I have a float rating but need to hire a float plane.

No doubt aircraft destroyed or at best needing a lot of work to fly again.

Maybe someone should make a platform that an aircraft can stay on and float on given these conditions.

Yes it's Redcliffe sorry.

The aircraft pictured above are at YMUR and are now completely under water and some have floated away out of sight. Out of respect for the owners I won't even post them but you can view for yourself on https://myairportcams.com

As these were doing the rounds on TikTok of all places, I made this up to include the full set straight from the source.

Not the first time poor old Murwillumbah Airport has been under water, and won’t be the last!

As these were doing the rounds on TikTok of all places, I made this up to include the full set straight from the source. One of the sadder uses for the weathercam system, but good work putting it together nonetheless :ok:. It gives a good indication as to how quickly the water can rise and fall in certain spots - and a small giggle that old mate's float-thingy was apparently "anchored" rather than properly tied down such that she did float and swing with the current & wind.

These photos from Heck Field at Jacobs Well, Gold Coast. Worst flooding we have ever seen !

High tide in 1 hour but water not going down ......

Those YRED shots are as high or higher than the water in the 74 floods. LAMEs and owners went about and jacked aircraft up onto bricks, enough to keep bearings out of water. This was before the drainage and Levi bank was built when the runway was sealed in the late 70s. I have never seen YRED flood since that event. Someone has done something to stuff up the drainage.

Wouldn’t have anything to do with the urban development on swamp land just south of the field would it!

I feel a class action coming on, CCTV footage from the aeroclub, of water streaming into the field from a holding pond, of sorts.

Just South of there in Lismore it is being said that this flood was 2M higher than the 1974 event.

YRED is 100% tidal. There was runoff that flows through the mudflats to the bay. However, of late..ALL runoff is channeled out through a single outlet near the 25 end of the field.

It may be tidal, but there is footage of water streaming into the field from a holding pond outside the aerodrome.

OZBUSDRIVER

Agree 100%, Toss. Someone has changed the drainage around the aerodrome. Lived next door to the town surveyor for the RCC. The RL for the top of the levy bank was 300mm above the tidal surge that flooded the aerodrome during the 74 flood and cyclonic tidal surge. So, no effect from tide causing the flood. It has to have come from inland of the aerodrome.

Don’t the universities teach proper engineering anymore? What are these council engineers doing, allowing these flood area housing projects to be developed?

I think you'll find that engineers don't have much say in it. Spiv property developers and real estate agents on the other hand...

What can you salvage from all the submerged Lismore aircraft

What can you salvage from all the submerged Lismore aircraftProbably not all that much...FP props, CS prop blades, some primary structures maybe - such as spar carry-throughs for a 177/210 or similar, the gear legs and tyres. Would have to think almost everything else would be too susceptible to corrosion, of the insurance company too risk averse to consider paying for repairs.
