From the CH 10 5pm News footage - C.172 VH RWT.

'Murray Field' is also operated by RACWA.

Lotsa 'dents'.....All on board out OK....That's the good news.

Brianna,
Suggest if you want to get into Aviation journalism that you buddy up with someone who knows something.

Fairly reasonable article by the famous GT. Brianna will learn a lot from this distinguished mentor with heaps of journalism awards to his name. The public, GT’s main audience, respect his expertise and how he reports on aviation to the person in the street. Gnash ya teeth and eat ya hearts out Seabreeze and da Pinky.

P51D you must be a relative of GT to give such praise.

Seabreeze - I’m not a GT relie, but know the man. He’s not always right, but he’s respected by the non-aviation populace. As a counter there are others listed as aviation experts in the media, espousing views that are sometimes ill-informed or incorrect but are also roundly castigated on this forum. Each to their own I guess.

Did some formation flyng alongside VH-RWT (had to throttle down quite a bit especially on formation takeoffs/clibms... formation landings were challenging too.... )

Grumman Tiger vs Cessna 172.

Good times - showed me a lot about power management and forward planning, and positive decisions on go/abort.

Interesting to read that firefighters removed the mags, pretty intense training they must get around there!

RACWA couldnt organise a BBQ on Oz Day, let alone a flying school.

That’s very harsh.

Why is it that people can’t control aeroplanes and end up crashing.

Is their training lacking?

They don’t recognise the conditions are beyond their abilities?

They ignore all the above and land anyway?

It seems to happen so often.

Serious answer?

B

Training can only get you 70% of the way there. The other 30% is experience, and people are reluctant to put their hand up and admit that the conditions on the day are beyond their current experience.

Or to paraphrase that old chestnut.

“I don’t make mistakes because I have experience
I have experience because I’ve made mistakes.”
