Below Award Pay is illegal. I doubt it is happening unchallenged.

I might be missing something, not sure as haven't delt with award pay.

EFA 2014 EBA Captain -$161,038
Award 737-300= 40 hours x $80.19 x 52= $166,795.2.

Below award pay would be unlawful. Looking at the 2020 Air Pilots Award it states…Boeing 737-300 Capt $143,358 and FO $94,414

There are a number of extra allowances that need to be incorporated into the 2020 award amounts to come up with the ‘base salary’. These are easily found in the award….

Unlawful????? Firing 2000 ground handlers was found by a court to be unlawful, but they still did it…..

This exact argument came up here. https://www.pprune.org/australia-new-zealand-pacific/624455-qantas-a321-freighter-7.html

To save the effort, the EBA is expired by 3 years (hence below current award and not illegal) and for those of you playing at home, the Air Pilot Award 2020 has the published minimum rates which snakeslugger has graciously published, to which the below is added. Hence below the award. It has been "negotiated" for a lengthy period of time, with no result.

Additions to minimum salary In addition to the minimum salary the following salary components will be paid as applicable.

(b) Airline Transport Pilots Licence [A.1.3(b) varied by PR718864, PR729304 ppc 01Nov21] A pilot (excluding Fokker-28 pilots) required to hold and exercise the privileges of an Airline Transport Pilots Licence by their company or CASA (or who operates under an exemption from holding that licence) will be paid $5435.64 per annum.

(d) Flying a turbo jet aircraft [A.1.3(d) varied by PR718864, PR729304 ppc 01Nov21] A pilot (excluding Fokker-28 pilots) flying a turbo jet aircraft will be paid $11,519.23 per annum

Pilots (excluding Fokker-28 pilots) who are required to carry out flying using an instrument rating will be paid an additional allowance as follows: Instrument flying rating $ per annum Command or Class 1 6587.56 Co-pilot or Class 2 4283.71 Night VFR or Class 4 1646.89

Hi everyone
I applied for the DEC Airbus and just received a mail from EFA recruitment with instructions to complete the CEB/SHL Talent Measurement Solutions online assessment.
Is there any information or any preparation material available EFA online assessment or even the assessment process?

also what are the current conditions like rostering, pay, benefits and career progression like??

thanks

Could you could take them to court for the difference?

They could apply to cancel the EA and revert to the award…

Who do you mean by "they", the pilot group or the management?

The award is the minimum amount , usually award amounts are significantly low. Languishing/neglected awards are the arsenal in the modern industrial system that sabotage the workers at the negotiating table, more so if the employee group is weak.

Yes and hence my question. Numerous pilots have successfully taken employers to court for underpayment.

Surely in a developed nation with workplace regulations and unions that shouldn’t be necessary…

The pilots. If they can get paid more by reverting to the award then apply to have the EA cancelled. Taste of the companies own medicine.

Get in touch with a Employment lawyer. Add up all the dollars over xx years and that’s what your entitled to. Period.

This always makes for interesting reading.

No need for a lawyer, just notify your union and it will take care of it.

I’m not sure if it’s actually against any law to be paid less than the Award. The Better Off Overall Test (BOOT) is about more than just a pay rate. As I understand, you could choose to trade away 5% of your pay for more annual leave or more sick days, etc.

So you would need to look at the EA in its entirety Vs the Award to asses if it is actually worse.

Hi everyone

just want to know what the recruitment status for DEC to EFA is. Did the online assessment in the beginning of February but no feedback to date? Does this mean its nojoy or does the process take time?
Hardly had enough time to prepare for the assessment as the rostering here is a nightmare (90hrs/40-50 sectors avg amonth) plus a toddler makes time management a form of magic . 30 questions in 36 min 😜 barely cracked the 20’s Q mark.. time ran out .. rough start but was hoping to make it up in the interview and sim… but seems now there is no radio chatter or status updates…

Currently a A320 tri in a flag carrier and have a wide body upgrade comming soon which will lock me in for another 3 years here but i would love to return home.. so i have to weigh up my options

love to get Any news or feedback

thanks

After interview, wait some more. Wait for the Review panel then wait for training slot shortages to clear to be placed on merit based active hold for aircraft they don't yet have.

Their advertising for crew could be called false or misleading conduct.

Many, if not most successful applicants will be gainfully employed elsewhere by the time real vacancies arise.
