View Full Version : medical versus licence

Hi there,

I have an EASA ATPL(A). There is no validity limit on this licence. It is dependent on your current type ratings what you may fly.
This is also true as far as medical class is concerned. In order to exercise the privileges of the ATPL you must have a class 1 medical. Fair enough.
I now have a class 2 medical. My ATPL paper document is full. When I requested a new document the CA informed me that I could only receive a PPL as I don't have a class one medical.
I dispute this.
These are two separate documents. In my opinion Issuing me a new paper ATPL document (except for initial issue) is separate from a medical. You need both to exercise the privileges but that doesn't mean I loose my ATPL and only get a PPL.

Any experience with this issue and/or advice would be most welcome.
