At the board of directors level they're even too afraid of hk government's possible reaction to basing crews overseas to avoid and get around restrictions which are choking this airline to death. This is the real reason why they haven't done this to keep the operation going much more smoothly than the current sh!t show. The reason given by management for this which was literally "BUT ITS TOO HARD TO BASE 747 CREW OVERSEAS..." is laughable and bullsh!t.

Relocating the company is a much more severe decision to make and execute and could mean losing their traffic rights as a reaction from hk government which is being told what to do by Beijing btw. None of these people in charge of any govermnet department are there because of anything except being handpicked by Beijing to do what they're told. And they're all doing what they're told. Not that thinking, reason and logic has ever been in their mental toolkit anyway.

Effectively impossible to relocate an airline to another country. The regulatory requirements (ownership, registrations, traffic rights etc) would be almost impossible to overcome (you can imagine what Delta/American/United would have to say if they tried to shift to the USA?). Further, and as mentioned above, the HK (PRC) govt would probably cancel any traffic rights into HK, so the airline would be orphaned from the start. It seems apparent that the govt is quietly working on bringing CX down, to either be replaced, or sold. At the current rate of public demonisation, CX will be considered a leper to the HK people quite soon. The party is probably well and truly over.

Don’t be an arse. Take a day off. No airline, not even the PRC ones, deserves to have its professionals treated as criminals.

Cathay won’t and can’t relocate.
It does seem, however, that it will cease trading soon. If not, then cut back drastically.
Give your notice and go, otherwise you will not even get a penny if they go bust.

Zero knowledge of the ORSO scheme, there.
