Hello, my fist post on this forum. Had a trial lesson a few weeks ago in a R22 at the Heli centre in Manchester, great fun and really enjoyed it. This has now progressed to me wanting to do my PPL H. The obvious choice of school is the same school, heli centre, however they seem to be more expensive than any other school I have looked at, about £70/hr more after landing fee’s etc… other options are to travel much further to somewhere like Arcus Helicopters, this will come at a cost of more travel time and travel cost, but still cheaper.

There is a school in Preston, Bickerstaffe Aviation, very reasonable cost. I can’t find any reviews of this school, anyone on here had any experience of this company?

Thanks

Helispeed at Blackpool have a R44 and it’s a good airport to train from.
Flight Academy at Barton are also worth a look

Who did you end up learning with? Anyone in the NW?

I don't think Flight Academy are there any more. Any more recommendations?

I went outside the NW in the end, and started with Yorkshire Helicopters, Oli is a great instructor. He uses a R44 out of Leeds East Airport.
