The Queensland Government owned Aviation Australia College at Brisbane Airport has called time on a rare relic of aviation's golden age.

Oh, dear. One's mortality comes to haunt us all. Many an hour as a freighter in that wonderful beastie ..... Delightful aeroplane to fly.

Sad demise of an aeroplane that had a significant history in Australia and the Pacific, I had a bit to do with it when National Jet we’re carrying livestock in it back in the early 90s. Anyone know if they are also planning on chopping up the ex Air Niugini F-28 as well?

Obviously not enough apprentices being trained due a lot of the heavy maintenance now being done offshore….

It's making way for two MD-80's owned by Mr. Clive Palmer, currently parked about 400 metres away.

It went to the Coke factory in the sky years ago.

The problem was the tech was too old. The MD80's have glass cockpits etc for the trainees spanners to work on.

How appropriate. The aeroplane was destroyed on Qantas' birthday.

What a shame, such history here! Wingnuts, do you know where the remainder of this aircraft is now? I’d love to salvage something for a historical record. Cheers!
