Random question arising from watching the met briefing - where would the data have come from for the synoptic charts that covered enemy territory?

Not a weather man but watch it on the news, ;) most of it appears to form over the Atlantic areas then pass over us heading towards the continent, so would they not base the forecast of what we have had in the UK and that from shipping and aircraft operating in both the South and North Atlantic, plus information from aircraft operating over enemy territory?
Just a guess.

Interesting picture on the CIO office wall when he is interviewing the guy, a contra rotating prop Spitfire... they were a bit of a rarity, got rid of all that torque nonsense on take off etc though.

"When he learnt to fly it was all common sense and good judgement... now it's different"... Errm that's hardly a good endorsement.
