Strewth Woomera! Remind me not to surf when you're doing changes to Dunnunda. I got lost halfway through it!

Nice idea & thanks to Danny for allowing it. How long did you guys ponder a sub forum dedicated to...errr....you know when? And if you did, why not put it in?

So. Now I can't wait to see where this thread ends up!:D

In the words of a particularly rotund person...I'm excited!

There you go:D

What other sub forum, I have no idea of which you speak, ?:p

Don't even think about it OK :(

It now takes three times as long to do a quick scan of this forum ..... a good idea but ?

Decisions, decisions, decisions, what am I to do?

What page do I now list as my home page?

Trust you, Woomera, just when I was comfortable you change everything and leave me with decisions to make again!!!

You could try and post here http://www.aopa.com.au/board/messages/board-topics.html

Or http://www.vpmag.com/cgi-bin/yssy/msgboard/UltraBoard.pl?

thats if it is easier. :D :D :D

I remember when a FORUM was a discussion with Friends, Romans, Countrymen etc.
What's a SUB-FORUM?

If you think so, then how about letting us in on what appears to be to you, a closely guarded secret.

Seriously I would like to know your thoughts as without them we cannot improve the service to you.

Dont just do something stand there,

Skinny Dog

If you are interested in all of them, then all it requires is an extra 2 page refreshes, we hope it makes it easier for those who are only interested in one or two topics.

It does increase the moderator workload a tich but we don't miond in the interests of more focussed forums which is for everybodies benefit.

The way it was before was fine......in my opinion.

Boeing Belly - we'll be sticking with this format and, as you get used to it and the old threads are transferred, the old Dunnunda will simply become a header to the new forums.

It's about focus and signal to noise ratio. If your interests are airline/RPT have a look at Dunnunda Reporting Points - absolutely solid, specialised threads. It's becoming the same for wannabes as the moving over gathers pace.

It's time to move and a give the place a makeover - switching between forums is a non event. A quick calculation on our overnight stats shows roughly 36,000 visitors in the last 24 hours with an non Australian IP address and suprisingly enough they managed to move around several forums - over 70 of them actually.

Calling them sub forums is simply techie talk for us at the Towers. Once the switchover is complete they are entirely independent forums monitored by all the present Woomera team.

It just proves that ours is "bigger" than theirs! ;)

I still think my idea for a sub-forum deserves a run! ;) :D

Thanks for the explanation,PPT.
Of course it would NOTHING to do with more forums for extra advertising space.....of course. :D

Buster, were you suggesting a B&T forum? You know, one that could accomodate the xx'ers; the ex-AN'ers; the "I support N.Z., and anyone else who plays against the Main Island"ers; the non-bovine iclined's; the anti-QF/VB'ers; etc, etc, etc??
Not that YOU nor I would qualify anywhere there, Buster, ol' buddy, ol' pal.

Indeed I was Kaptin! Perhaps, seeing we don't go in for that sorta stuff, we could moderate it? Can you imagine it? The only forum where the moderators go toe to toe!!!:D

I reckon there's a dusty corner in a bar somewhere in the world, where we could have a pint or two. At least the conversation wouldn't be boring!!!:D :D

Heard there's an accumulation of dirt, dust, 'n grime in a coupla pubs on the Gold Coast (in fact any one'll do) that are overdue for a wipedown in early October. :) Any chance?
I reckon a B&T forum would have to be almost open slather, Buster. But actually (and in fact) Woomera has been VERY fair of late in that respect (in comparison to eg. The Kelly Gang!)
And look at how the whole thing died a natural death.

Otherwise kavu is gunna hafta pen his ewes after mid October!!

Hmmm, some extra potential ad space Kap - what a cracking idea.

You're witnessing one of the world's greatest ever business plans in action - running the busiest forum in Australia for 6 years without a single ad ever been bought. That Worldcom lot were bleedin' amateurs compared to me and Danny:D :D

Regards
Rob

PS - The model you sent is now perched above the Towers monitor - It wasn't bugged was it?? - some funny interference evey so often:confused:

Kaptin M

The ads certainly do seem reasonable for any business that wants to take advantage of the obvious popularity of PPRuNe - it surprises me that none have!
Has anyone canvassed Virgin Blue , or QANTAS ?? What do they about waiting for business to come to YOU.....you've got to go and GRAB it!

Ahh, the Bugging....errrm..Boeing - it should be no problem if it's pointing into the rising sun. :D

How about two more Sub Forums:

Dunnunda Jet Blast for posting pictures of wives and girl friends; and

Dunnunda 89’ers. Members only access, on entry it cancels your Passport and ATPL, destroys your hard drive and ensures you can never again access PPRuNe? Kinda like a self closing back door!

:D :D :D :D

 Some people just don't get subtlety!

Kaptin....With any luck, I'll be enjoying an ale or two with Cargo Rat 2 in EU about then. Don't get around much nowadays, since a certain demise, perhaps when you're down this way???

Kaptin M

No-one mentioned an '89 forum per se, in the same way no-one specifically specifed a B&T forum for operators who have had their AOC's pulled - not that there are too many who fall into that category, as most (if not almost all) have the EXPERIENCE to deal with these matters BEFORE they become a problem. :D

Nor do all ex-AN employees REALLY believe that Singapore Airlines was denied access of Ansett ownership, IF they had GENUINELY desired it.
SQ proved they were the goats and not the sheep.

Similarly Torres, the MAJORITY of 1989 non-scab :D (I know you love that word!!) continued then, and continue NOW to enjoy employment, with passports, ATPL's (Aussie and overseas) intact, and access to PPRuNe.

In this life, each of us has a "cross to bear - a certain barrow we wish to push".
Tolerance and some understanding of the other (wo)man's point of view will allow us ALL to live, and play, in harmony.
It's p!ss easy to take the p!ss out of one another by taking a superficial overview, and then jump onto the bandwagon of common, UNinformed popular, media-fed "opinion".

Both you, Buster and you, Torres, have demonstrated an intellectual capacity to present your cases with insight, knowledge, and pathos, to an audience that appreciates (usually) YOUR input.

You both have your beliefs - I mine!

Is of the SAME opinion still."

Kaptin M,

What would DJ, QF or any airline for that matter want to advertise on pprune for?

Jobs? - not likely, Flights? - less likely.

Kaptin.

I like to think that my opinion can be swayed by convincing and sensibly administered evidence. My opinions of that year are based upon what I saw & heard, again, I was not directly involved in those events and I qualify any argument I post with that.

As such, and due to my lack of involvement in the matter, I believe I can have a drink with anyone from either side of the coin. My sympathies lie, where I think anyone can see, with those that were the subject of certain amounts of vitriol, however, I am able to see both sides of the coin & the relevant issues. And I have expressed same before.

I think I finally understand the power & value of Pprune now. I am starting to have doubts about the integrity of a certain carrier & their investment plans in this region. My glowing opinion of them was certainly based on the employees here in Dunnunda & the apparent sound management decisions they have made. Well, times change and so can opinions. I shall watch with renewed interest & perspective.

KM, ya bugga! Yer gunna be in Oz at precisely the wrong time of the month :D for me! Soonest I can be back there looks like mid to late October - tending more toward late than "mid". And I was planning to have a couple days in Brissie too, so it ain't as if we wouldn't have been in the same ballpark! :(

Oh well mate, maybe next time we can coordinate a bit eh? :D

"What would DJ, QF or any airline for that matter want to advertise on pprune for? "...brand name exposure - the same as Ryan Air capitalises on, each time you clickk into PPRuNe. ;)

Unfortunately Buster, your exposure to the "combatants" of 1989 was limited to one side only - those on the opposite side of the fence to me, and the other 78% who did NOT "go back" .
The thread "The BEST thing about 1989" covered the events from that year probably more thoroughly than anything else I've seen written or posted, thanks to many contributors. If you can be bothered, search it out and have a read.

OzExpat , mate..you're on!! . I'll EXTEND my leave through until the end of October - JUST to have a drink (is G&T okay by you?? :D ) for ol' times sake. Better make it before the 30th - probably the 27th-29th, one or all 3 days would suit me if that fits in with your (devious) plans.
