Volcanic activity has thrown up a large ash cloud over this and adjoining islands. The provincial government has reportly advised residence to be on notice should the situation deteriorate. Could this effect travel to the isands in the chain.

The eruption is on La Palma, not Las Palmas which is Gran Canaria.

Operated into TFS a couple of days ago and the company didn’t even bother telling us anything about it, however a check on Toulouse VAAC showed the Ash cloud drifting South but mainly avoiding the other Islands, and had no effect on us. I heard that Binter cancelled some inter island routes but haven’t any confirmation of that. If you google Toulouse VAAC you can find the latest warnings and concentration charts, there now seem to be two plumes one to the south which is an orange warning and one to the East which is green and both ok to fly through.

descending into TFS the plume was visible, but from a distance looked just like a TCU, and wasn’t particularly large.

has anyone flown to the Canary islands the last few days?

On the Toulouse VAAC today the red ash cloud zone seemed smaller

From CBS
“People who remain on the island face other risks including earthquakes, lava flows, toxic gases, volcanic ash and acid rain.“
