Anyone take PPL theory exams with BAZL in Switzerland? What question banks are they using? EASA QB? Asked them by email, they are not being helpful (I.e. they said Each member state is responsible for maintaining their own PPL question bank without mentioning which one they are using).

There is no EASA question bank. The response you received is entirely correct; the questions for the PPL examination in Switzerland will have been set by BAZL themselves.

They are using the ECQB which has been adopted by a number of EU states now for PPL exams. There are sample questions available for download from the Austro Control website in English. The actual questions are being closely guarded though to prevent people just learning answers rather the material. We video every exam session an TM CAD monitor them real time to help prevent cheating and people taking away exam questions.
