And people had the sense to leave their hand baggage behind…

Incident occurred at the the end of a scheduled flight, and the video shows at least one child involved in the evacuation, so looks like it was for real.

That aircraft hasn't just run through whatever those things are behind it (flags?) and down that embankment with no damage. I agree with XXmet. A practice drill.

Ah, so the stock price crashed. Not the airplane

Well you're half right - the aircraft clearly didn't hit anything. Nor do most runway excursions.

If the captions (and Mrs. Chu Chu) are to be believed, it's an actual overrun.

It happened a few days ago. Landed after holding due to thunderstorms.
Very few runways in China are grooved. Standing water after heavy rain is not to be underestimated here.

An actual overrun.

Supposingly a deliberate high speed rollout / taxy down the runway for the turn-pad at the far end (backtrack required to vacate).

Most importantly everyone got out safe.

Looks like the flaps are up in the distant views...down for the “evacuation”...

Would you expect the flaps to have been left down indefinitely following the evacuation (not "evacuation") ?
