Hello
Anyone knows where we can obtain a command rating on S76C or C+ in Australia? I have 5500 TT , 800+ of them flown 2008-2010 on the 76C model but need to get a command rating as my overseas P2 for the S76C cannot be transferred to my CASA license
Thanks in advance

There is no such thing as S76C or S76C+ type rating in Australia. The type rating is simply SK76. You can do your P1 training on S76A/A+/A++/B/C/C+/C++/D and it's all the same as far as the type rating on your licence is concerned. But to answer your question, I don't think it can be done in Australia. The S76C+/C++ simulator in ZhuHai China used to be certified annually by CASA when Bristow operated the type, but that has probably lapsed since the S76 is now dead and buried almost everywhere. But expect to pay $25K USD+ for the course. Why you'd need it on your CASA licence is a bit of a mystery.

Hi Gullibell
Thanks for the reply; Yes had looked already at ZhuHai sim, still valid for CAAM license holders as some units left in offshore ops here. FSI sim will be USD32000 for the type rating, approved by CASA. No mystery why I want it on my CASA license, have a position opening but need P1 and no P2 upgrade available where the job is....
With all this Covid19 going on, international travel is not a great option really...
Cheers

Unless New Zealand is an option and you do the trans-Tasman recognition with CASA? The job is obviously not in Australia, and I don't know of any option in Australia to get type rated on the S76. Have you considered getting your US FAA ATP and use that as your native license instead of CASA? FAA doesn't require a type rating on the S76. Much cheaper doing 15 hours in an R44 to get the ATP ticket than doing the FSI simulator initial course. I'm rather perplexed how contemplating spending that sort of money to get a type rating is sensible even if there is a job on offer at the end of it. If I had 32K to blow on a S76 simulator course I'd be doing the AW139 course instead.

Kestrel Aviation has a S76 and a flight school that can type you on your CASA license. I’m pretty sure it’s not a C or C+, but as some above stated, the variant in Australia is irrelevant with regard to a type rating.

He might be in luck. According to the civil aircraft register VH-KPK is a S76C, s/n 760459. I wonder if that is one of the old Esso machines?

Thanks Havick
I had contacted Richard Butterworth at Kestrel a few weeks ago but no can do as no aircraft of flight examiner availability...

Thanks GulliBell
I do have a NZCAA PPL H issued in 1989 before going overseas... I looked recently at getting CASA CPL recognised by NZCAA but needs flight test etc and the paperwork is just diabolical... FAA really only 15 hours in a R44? 4 years ago I looked at doing that, and the guys at Maui helicopters wanted something like USD20K to get my ATP issued, I gave up silly me, would not be in a pickle now. Decided to invest the money in a business instead

I needed an FAA ATP for a job in Saudi Arabia. I did a swing-by California on the way and did a few hours training at a flight school in Los Angeles and then the flight test. It is relatively easy to do if your starting point is an ICAO ATP and you meet the certificate experience requirements (particularly 100 hours night). The hardest part was comprehending ATC in high traffic airspace, they talk real fast on the radio!

Appears to be ex Aero Asahi Corporation 1997-2018

Oh right. All the Esso C's were delivered prior to 1997. I think Esso sold them for about $250K each when they changed to AW139.
