With thousands of students and their families already leaving the territory due to new “brainwashing” curriculums being forced in, we are gonna witness even more locals and expats alike packing up, and calling “andiamo tutti” from the new mainland city that once was called Hong Kong Special Admin Region.

The only “special” this place will award you, is being locked up for life, if you so much dare using the L-word, and getting your loved ones bank accounts frozen.

As for CXi, that off course spells goodbye to some more high end revenue, that would otherwise have been generated by banking execs etc.

Good... Property prices will go up as the true inhabitants of this land fill up the void left by those bailing out.

Correct RAT, as soon as the border opens to the rest of China and more immigrants from there are allowed then property prices will take off here.

Come 2047 every leasehold for every property in HK, except the Christian church land expires and has to be returned to China.

Why don't they talk about this?

Back in the mid 1990s, anyone who was looking at joining CX had to weigh upon what 1997 would bring and decide accordingly. For the Australians coming from turboprops it was still a decent option to get some jet time while waiting for QF to start recruiting again. It gave them a big leg up as they could go from S/O B744 into exactly the same job back home.

Initially the handover went well and the biggest change was going to "B" aircraft registrations. Unfortunately the pessimists seem to have been right, and whilst it's taken a lot longer and is happening more slowly their predictions are coming true.

Very bad news for HKG and therefore CX.

Get current and get out. US carriers employing. Emirates recalling furloughed by end of October and those made redundant can reapply. CX and HKG are finished, it is just a matter of time.

It would be good to see a the civilized world stand up to the the Chinese Commies and get them to join the world in a civilized, co-operative manner. Australia, USA and Lithuania are on the right track.

Surely there's no expats left that plan to stay once the world gets better and jobs open up elsewhere? are there?

There aren’t many left… All the icadet COS18 joiners have big dreams of Air NZ and Qantas SO positions. None of them came for a career. The FOs are all pulling out a CV or two and hoping for something to pop up. Younger skippers are expecting a jump as well. This is just the future when a career airline becomes a contact company. Sad times

If you are finding someone to blame then let it be American Express and the loss of Asia Miles… the Standard Sharted deal isn’t a good one.

STW, who said Lithuania is FIGHTING China?

The trend in geopolitics is that like minded western democracies are more more condemning China for its behavior. If it continues like this I wouldn’t be surprised if sanctions fall into place. Too late for HKG though.
