Another arms deal in India generating allegations of dodgy comissions, be interesting to see if it comes to naught like the RR Adour ones. It might cause delay to the follow on order that I understand is still in the pipeline. Earlier this year the French Government promised it wouldn't sell defence technology previously sold to India to its potential enemies as part of securing its place in the Indian market.

A French judge has been tasked with investigating a controversial 2016 multi-billion-dollar sale of Rafale fighter jets to India on “corruption” suspicions, the national financial prosecutors’ office (PNF) said Friday.
The 7.8-billion-euro ($9.3-billion) deal for 36 planes (https://www.france24.com/en/tag/rafale-fighter-jet/) between the Indian (https://www.france24.com/en/tag/india/) government and French (https://www.france24.com/en/tag/france/) aircraft manufacturer Dassault has long been mired in corruption (https://www.france24.com/en/tag/corruption/) allegations.

The PNF had initially refused to investigate the sale, prompting French investigative website Mediapart to accuse it and the French Anti-corruption Agency of “burying” suspicions surrounding the September 2016 deal.

In April, Mediapart claimed “millions of euros of hidden commissions” were given to a go-between who helped Dassault conclude the sale, of which “some... could have been given as bribes” to Indian officials.

Dassault retorted that no wrong-doing was flagged in the group’s audits.

PNF = Parquet national financier (The French judicial institution which is responsible for tracking down serious economic and financial crime.)
P.S. In case Nutloose reads this, the reference to a carpentry tool is their's not mine.
