Hmmmm I wonder how this will go, hearts and minds and all that, I cannot see them having much luck with the Taliban.

In the meantime over 1000 Afghan troops flee the country after getting no support.

A for what it is worth.....in 1974....the Chinese were in The Republic of Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso) doing agriculture projects.....so they have been reaching out long distances from home for many years.

I am sure all those farm laborers were just that....squat labor and not Intel Officers and the like.

I can see a lot of use for a four lane motorway linking Afghanistan with the outside World....the Chinese are going about it the right way....working with the Afghans and. not fighting against them.

They will be all working in the new mines probably on the same wages and conditions as the miners working the Himalayan pink salt mines .

If the Chinese are as great students of history as everyone thinks no doubt they've got their pull-out plan already written.........................
