View Full Version : Moderation gone wild ?

I have recently observed that my access to R&N was revoked, without any warning or explanation.

I posted to this effect here but that very thread has also been deleted - apparently the matter should not be discussed !

I have also reached out via the contact us form but never received a reply.

I might have posted something offending to some unknown moderator views / beliefs but certainly nothing outside of the charter of the forum (my most recent post in R&N was about a paraglider aircraft crash in response to someone hinting to the fact that it was weather related and asking for more info, hardly something triggering… but still vanished).

In any case let me reiterate that without any communication from the control tower it is rather hard to navigate safely !

I’m happy to re-register under a different name if this is what’s requested. I’m also happy to comply to some unknown and unspecified rules. Just let me know…

The deletion of the thread happened shortly after I posted my one and only post in R&N for fourteen days before the expultion - which was clearly non-offensive to anyone.
Either one moderator is abusing his powers or we've fallen into disgrace and locking us out from one of the most frequented subforums is the way of showing us the door.
Foul play in either case.

Probably not my place to comment, but seriously? You have been here 19 years and I have been here 22 years so I am guessing we both have an idea of how this works!

Since when has “R&N” been the repository for threads on paragliders? Given how little news is out there these days I suppose you could whittle down the forums to be one all encompassing forum, but I guess things will gradually pick up and as long as there are still a generous plethora of subject related forums, it doesn’t seem unreasonable to make the effort to use them.

There do seem to be a few folk who seem to believe their every utterance and finger thump is nectar only worthy of the headline forums, and that is only the ones we actually see. I am guessing there are a lot we don’t?

I’ve been here 20 years and recently had posts deleted and a subsequent scuffle with a 25+year moderator not liking my “American” views and being told I’m out of touch with the ‘market’.
The thread in question got totally hacked up and I’m guessing I’m on borrowed time.

It was in this thread (https://www.pprune.org/rumours-news/641140-l-410-down-russia-kemerovo-tanay.html). As you can see the last poster links to a report for a similar crash that was weather related. So I replied "do you think / know that this incident was also weather related ?", got my post deleted and was banned from the forum. Now it might have been an inappropriate comment (I don't think so but that's beside the point) but without any sort of feedback or message from the moderators it is rather difficult to understand what line I might have crossed.

If anything I am rather seen by some as an obvious Russian troll so I guess that's not why I got banned (ie “American” views :) ).
