A Russian pilot is under investigation after a man was duct-taped to the underside of a plane and flown above an airfield.

The stunt was concocted by Mikhail Litvin, 21, a notorious internet star in Russia with around 20 million followers on social media.

In the shocking footage, his friend ‘Zheka’ Namitov, 25, can be seen hanging high above the group from the bottom of a plane, held on by tape.

Although there appears to be a more stable support around his midriff in the video, the rest of his body is secured with normal gaffer tape.

The nerveless daredevil made it to the ground safely and even remarked that the view was ‘very beautiful’ while still up in the air.

Egging his accomplice on, Litvin can be heard saying ‘go on, brother… we live only once and need to remember this moment’.

But the prank has landed pilot Alexander Nazarov, 31, in hot water with the authorities.

A statement read: ‘The pilot, acting on the instructions of the blogger, allowed the participants in the video to attach the man to the lower part of the helicopter fuselage with adhesive tape.

‘He flew in a way that did not meet safety requirements, putting the life and health of the hero of the plot in danger.’

Namitov claimed afterwards there were hidden safety measures.

It would certainly offer an increased level of protection in the event of a heavy landing - a big bundle of stupid underneath to absorb the shock! :ugh:

Better duct tape than super glue.

He had a helmet, must think it’s important enough to protect. Perhaps he will consider using it one day.

The most surprising part for me, is that the Russians have an aviation authority. :E

Looking at this reminded me of the Solvite advert from years ago:

Was this real?

I see where he went wrong. If he'd been wearing a high-viz vest, it would have been much safer

That’s the only way anyone would get me airborne in one again....

every time I open this thread, I keep having this image of a rough autorotative landing, with skid spread.
his body digging a trench in the ground in looney tune cartoon sort of way, closing shot of him spiting a mouth full of dirt and grass.

Don't forget the safety glasses, must always have the proper PPE

You are so right. Far better to bolt on some gopro’s and just go for it. Either way it makes great youtube videos, that’s always a great reason to use an aircraft like this. It’s not like these youtuberz ever get it wrong and end up dead. That never happens. #ducktape or is it #ducttape? :E

I would rather have put the helmet on my, errm, helmet. He probably couldn’t find one large enough.

:ok: When it comes to risk assessments of flying in a Robbie I'd think there is little difference between being taped to the outside or seated inside.

This could become the next "shoe selfie" style craze? Anything's possible when you combine Instagram junkies with desperate low timers scrambling for that next 0.2.
