All I can find is a story in the independent, all the usual safety networks seem to have missed it

Here's recording (compressed and edited) of the last communications with ATC, no mention whatsoever of any problems on board, other than lack of prompt response to controllers, and you can hear igniters still on.

An FAA spokesperson confirmed that no one aboard was currently qualified to fly the Citation. The agency's airman database shows Joe Lara having a multi-engine commercial pilot certificate, instrument rating, and CE-500 type rating but no record of a current medical. Another occupant held a private pilot certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings but was not type-rated for the Citation.https://www.bjtonline.com/business-jet-news/ntsb-begins-probe-into-fatal-citation-accident?utm_hsid=28375690&utm_campaign=Waypoints&utm_medium=email&_hsmi=131449041&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-8yhHnK-C1e3gHSZSYJQzr_QlmSsO8BgwxpyePZ0AWgkMPG86B4ek19aS38V4N5DLawA GkDzQdesLZH3BfiNtFlq8_y5g&utm_content=2&utm_source=hs_email

The agency's airman database shows Joe Lara having a multi-engine commercial pilot certificate, an instrument rating, a CE-500 type rating, and a second-class medical dated November 2019. Another occupant held a private pilot certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings.

The accident is the second fatal crash this year of a U.S.-registered business jet. Non-U.S.-registered business jets have also been involved in two fatal accidents this year.

Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that no one aboard was currently qualified to fly the aircraft. Corrected before the lawyers dive in....

I am not a Citation pilot but could that be another alarm (you say igniters) going in the background? A distraction that maybe explains the slow response to ATC. ?
