Around 2 years ago, it looked as if I would be spending 6 months in Brisbane, so in March 2019 I applied for an Aviation Reference Number (ARN) so that I could do some flying.

Then circumstances changed and the travel was delayed, and COVID-19 finally killed it. I forgot about the ARN application, but this morning I got an email informing me that it has now been issued. Lucky I wasn't waiting on it! 2 years to issue an ARN, to allow any other process with CASA to begin, seems slow.

Well considering you forgot about your application for 2 years I’m not sure why you feel the need to write a post about CASA. If you hadn’t forgot and had followed it up with a phone call a few months after applying and then subsequent phone calls every month and it still took 2 years...then that would be worth whinging about.

Enjoy your ARN
