A certain airline focused credit card has rebranded itself by taking out the airlines name from the card. Interesting.

Could this be a sign? Do they know something?

Not everything needs to be in code. Which one?

Spoke with the Wong guy today at AMEX, who confirmed that new cards will be in the post by May, sans the brush stroke.

The muppets running the CXi show managed to successfully p off loyal customers, Joe Public, staff, and now the banks too. Well done chaps!

And no, it’s not the 1st of April.

The cancellation of the co brand credit card with Amex was announced last year. Probably a cash saving measure or time for a different co branded card.

Too bad, those Asia miles saved my behind a number of times when stuck without a seat at check in on staff travel.

Other credit cards give you the equivalent Asia miles at the same rate, but you’ll have to periodically transfer your reward points to AMs yourself.

Unless it works differently here in Hong Kong, credit card companies actually pay the airline not the other way around. They purchase the miles in bulk from the Airlines and then use them in their promotion/operations to attract new credit card customers. Traditionally airline credit card company partnerships have been very profitable for both the airlines and credit card companies.

maybe now with coronavirus and the associated travel reductions it's not working out!

I assume CX will go with UnionPay now, there has been a lot of pressure on Hong Kong companies to accept it and go into partnerships with them.

All part of the swing to the East.
