Have a decent amount of free time at the moment from the main career due to Covid and have been considering doing the IRI and maybe the CRI also so that I can teach in the twins. Anyone have any recommendations of a decent place to do both?

Should be quite easy to do in a number of locations but you need to consider the effects of Brexit. Which licence do you hold, and where do you hope to instruct? A UK ATO can only train holders of UK Licences, for UK licences and ratings not EASA licences and ratings any more. If you hold an EAA licence you will need an ATO with an EASA approval.

The expensive part for CRI is having the MEP pic hours.

Best off training where you want to train others. Better prospect of getting some work/flying when finished. Good luck.

I’m teaching someone who is doing both the IRI and MEP CRI. Quite possible atm but make sure FI techniques are solid. Main problem for the FI is the basic skills flying the MEP, particularly the assymetric work

A pretty shocking requirement that MEP is. What's the logic behind it really. I understand the requirement for a minimum number of piston engine time (SEP or MEP). But if you've got the SEP hours and thousands of hours on other propulsion aircrafts such as a turbine powered twins, why would you need to have 30 hours of flying around the flag pole in "normal ops" (no asymmetry twin piston) in a MEP. Anyways it is what it is - please let us know what you find for solution to reaching the 30h.
