Occuring two weeks before the C-40 incident posted by Nutloose an intrusion into RAF Mildenhall has been reported on by the Air Force Times. Having always believed entering a US base could prove to be a lethal experience, I am having doubts. May be the Valley intrusion wasn't as much a national embarassment as I thought.:ok:

On Jan. 23, “a British national gained unauthorized access onto RAF Mildenhall,” a United States Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa public affairs staffer told Military Times Sunday morning in an email. “No ill intent is suspected, and the individual was escorted off base without incident. Extra security measures are in effect to ensure a similar incident does not occur.”

A post on the unofficial Air Force amn/nco/snco Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/AirForceForum/posts/1809124072594558) — which first reported the incident — said that a man “drove through the bird in hand gate which has alligator teeth, popped three tires, Not one of the three SF members in the gate shack noticed. The man made it to the gym parking lot and was trying to change three flats with one spare and a member walking out of the gym approached him and knew something was wrong. Called BDOC and walked the man back to the gate where his daughter was waiting. Now SF have to stand outside the gate shack 24/7 and the investigation is on going.”

This also marks the second intrusion onto Mildenhall in less than four years.
On Dec. 18, 2017, a man with a with a teddy bear strapped to his chest showed up at the main gate to the base, claiming to be from the Secret Service and saying, “This is a matter of national security, and I must speak to the president,” Air Force Times reported in September 2019.

Sounds like a Rupert to me......

Why would a British junior army officer be a teddy bear.

Never, ever trust anyone wearing checked trousers (Scotsmen excluded).

Good one!

As an aside, my wife's small bear is not only armed, but is Para -qualified ,with the requisite number of jumps day and night.
This during a rather alcoholic large family holiday involving balconies. One son-in-law made an excellent bear-bearing parachute. One landing was involuntarily into water.

Eustace the bear, now honourably retired, sometimes acts as if he has PTSD

Leuchars Brake Para Section had this gentlewomble in the 70's. He also had a trip to Malta, and Gardermoen. Where he flew in a Phantom - lucky Bearger. Had a back parachute and a front reserve chute. :-D

That is great!

We never thought of a reserve chute, so Eustace is a lucky retired bear!

Total thread drift, I know...but this is one of those 'and now it can be told stories' from 2019. Any similarity to Sgt Nicholas Alkemade is purely coincidental!!
