Hi all, I’m trying to answer a question which is bugging me.
How much (a ball park figure will do) in percentage terms does an airline make from it’s freight? I know it’s expensive right now (>$7/kg) but how much of that is gross profit? As a pilot I’m aware of operating costs of the aircraft/crew etc.
My guess is around 50% of the shipping costs per kilo are for the airline?
I’ve just started test flying freighters for factories in China and we are having a debate on how quickly these aircraft will pay for themselves.
Thanks!
