The second of two crashes of jets into Santa Monica Bay within five days. This time a United Airlines B727 following on from an SAS DC-8. While there were survivors in the first accident, sadly there were not to be in the second and I think only three bodies were recovered from the 38 souls on board.
Looking up the circumstances of the latter I came across a Los Angeles Times article which provides details on both losses. Strangely however, it refers to both losses occurring in February rather than January!
