I saw it by chance, it must be bitter for BA, having committed themselves to all the new aircraft being delivered these last months and the state of the industry at present.

Butting in here but was following a Delta 767 which came back into Dublin a short time ago with,it appears,emergency vehicles waiting.
Flight was Amsterdam to Minnieapolis and was a couple of hundred miles west of Shannon when returned.

Nope..I took the opportunity to hang up the headset a few months back....probably just as well at my age since I gather these “new” machines have reduced “rest room” facilities up front vs. the fit on previous deliveries..:ok::}

Aha! Well we wouldn't want you to become the new 'Slasher' ;-) All the best for whatever the man of leisure decides.

I saw a BA 777-300ER climbing out of Paine shortly after noon today - I assume it was the new delivery.
The penalties and such for deferring a delivery after they start building the aircraft are pretty steep.
In the months after 9/11, United had a bunch of 777 aircraft due for delivery (I was working 777 at the time). United would take delivery - without most of the interior - then fly them straight to the desert to park until traffic recovered sufficiently that they could actually use them. At least they could save several million in short term costs by getting them without interiors...

Flight was Amsterdam to Minnieapolis and was a couple of hundred miles west of Shannon when returned.That was DL161, N192DN - don't know the reason, but they left Dublin late yesterday evening and made it to Minneapolis about 2000 local.

Thanks Old Lurker,you probably confirmed my sanity!I do recall seeing on both FR24 and ADS-BExchange the 180' trace but afterwards thought maybe the trace was from a previous flight as oftens happens,obviously not.

It may well have been G-STBP on its customer acceptance flight. She’s due for delivery departing PAE tonight (arriving LHR 9am local on the 9th). This is the final 77W for the airline.
