Hello,

I've just tried searching the archives for this info, but can't find anything, and it's Sunday so no point phoning the CAA!

I have a Class 1, with the renewal due in Feb. I have the 'wearing corrective lenses' limitation on my medical but was wearing glasses when I had the initial. I have since being wearing contact lenses for 3 months (but not for flying).

Do I need to inform the CAA if I've started wearing contact lenses before I use them for flying?

The only info I have found is that on the initial Class 1 you must give a letter from your optician stating that you have worn them for 8+ hours a day for at least a month. As I already have the limitation, must I inform them that I'm using lenses and if so, can this wait until I go for my renewal in Feb?

On another note, is it normal for the prescription for contact lenses to be slightly different the that required for glasses, but still to get the same level of visual acuity?

Thanks in advance,

GQ
