If you currently believe that UK and or the USA political machine and their incumbent representatives are on the same level as dumpster divers, you're on point That said, Brussels and the EU will ALWAYS eclipse the afore mentioned when it comes to the levels of bureaucracy and stupidity that beggars the mind...
If you previously had a timeline in mind for "some" sort of normalcy to return, perhaps a revisit to your conclusions is warranted 🧐

The border to france is now closed for all. The rest of Europe is having their closures as well. Yet flights to HK will remain.

Looks like we will be seeing a new strain here soon.

CX has just put out a plan for the next 10 days... Near daily to LHR but only 1 flight to FRA and AMS in the same period with 2 others to TLV... Logic prevails again.

Well this new strain has been known about for at least 3 months

They just HAD to have an excuse for yet another monster U-Turn so they came out with the "new killer mutant" theory - but forgot that other countries read the news as well and now the UK has a "World Class Virus" to go with the world class track & trace and WC testing programmes................................

Flex: on other threads, I and some mates tended to end by saying ; "You aint seen nothin yet". Bit smug but appropriate. I listened to a lot of wider views and sit back, now, thinking - blimey, they really are more believable - and yes, sorry, but you aint seen nothin yet, even now.

In addition, in a bid to control the possible new virus strain from Britain, mandatory quarantine for arrivals from that nation has been extended to 21 days at an approved hotel, while the health minister has been granted the power to raise it to 28.

The decisions followed a special meeting of the Executive Council on Wednesday morning, with more details to be announced by Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor at around 6pm.

This cannot be for safety, it is clearly direction from the north. I cannot see many willing to pay 28 days of hotel quarantine just to return to HK.

Yet flights to HK will remain.

When you’re 98% down you take what you can get.

Frightening how this government is really going to destroy so many livelihoods.
