Before this becomes another long debate on whether covid exists and whether vaccines are necessary I have to say this really must be a quiet news day.

Currently only one vaccine is licensed in one country. For everyone else it is unlicensed. Whenever a medical license holder starts a drug or vaccine he must declare it and not use the privileges for a period of time. Is it really surprising the regulators are not giving carte blanche for pilots to use an unlicensed drug? As they say, once a vaccine is licensed they will review the benefits and risks and advise their AMEs as with any other new drug or vaccine. They are likely to do so well before pilots are invited to be vaccinated.

FAA approved the Pfizer vaccine for holders of FAA issued medical certificates performing safety-sensitive aviation functions, they must observe a 48 hour waiting period after each dose.
